Hamlet
Sensory-friendly

Join us for Birthday Bash Weekend April 23–25!

Shakespeare & Company will stage a sensory-friendly performance of Hamlet, presented by the Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare, on Saturday, April 25, at 2 pm, at the Tina Packer Playhouse.

The Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare unleashes the dark and powerful tale of Shakespeare’s Hamlet: a story full of mystery, revenge, and tough choices about truth and loyalty. Hamlet follows its titular character as he learns that his uncle killed his father, the King, and now wears the crown.

Sensory-friendly performances have been adapted to be less overwhelming to the senses. They are designed to welcome individuals with various sensory needs, including people who are neurodivergent, those living with cognitive, social, or physical challenges, first-time theatergoers, and others. A more relaxed environment is created through modifications to the performance space, including reduced-intensity lighting and sound effects; dimmed house lights for the duration of the performance; pre-show materials that include story synopses, theater maps, and other “what to expect” content; quiet spaces; communication boards, and opportunities to visit the theater the day before the performance to become familiar with the space.

A sensory-friendly walk-through will be at 1 pm on Friday, April 24. For more information, email boxoffice@shakespeare.org

Interested in bringing a group? Email groups@shakespeare.org.
