SUPERVISOR:     Costume Shop Manager, Michelle Hathaway

SCHEDULE:         Tuesday through Saturday 9am – 6pm typical

SALARY:               $15.00 – $16.00 per hour, housing available

 
Position Summary
The Wardrobe Staff work backstage supporting Actors by assisting with their costumes on a daily basis in a Shakespeare & Company summer production.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Preparation of costumes for each performance;
  • Assisting actors into and out of costumes;
  • Pre-setting backstage changes, performing quick changes with actors;
  • Resetting costumes at the end of the show;
  • Daily maintenance and cleaning of costumes and, occasionally, wigs from technical rehearsals through closing;
  • Some assistance in the construction and alteration of costumes as assigned, including the execution and completion in a timely manner working directly with drapers, first hands, designers, and other stitchers;
  • Complete other costume shop duties as needed;
  • Participate in D.E.A. training;
  • Collaborate with others in the costume department and with production teams assigned to create a supportive and inclusive environment that prioritizes safety and dignity.
 
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Characteristics Sought
  • Prior Wardrobe experience;
  • Good sewing skills;
  • Good organization and people skills;
  • An understanding of garment construction;
  • An empathetic style, exhibiting an openness to many perspectives;
  • A commitment to values of anti-racism and anti-oppression and personal and/or professional experiences advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, and communicate clearly with others;
  • Willingness to bring a sense of humor and flexible mindset to ever-changing situations; to respond respectfully to feedback when given; and to ask for help when needed;
  • Experience in organizing, working, and communicating effectively with groups of individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences;
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb stairs and/or ladders;
  • Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen and booster, if eligible, prior to employment term.
