POSITION SOUGHT

The Company now seeks a qualified, experienced, and imaginative individual to fill the position of Company Manager & Internship Coordinator beginning on or about May 15, 2024.  Reporting to the General Manager, the Company Manager & Internship Coordinator collaborate with other staff members to coordinate housing, travel, transportation, and other workplace needs; to develop and disseminate communications regarding the Company’s activities; to support COVID safety efforts on site; to coordinate intern class work and assessments; to support events on-site, especially regarding opening receptions and food service logistics.  The ideal candidate will have strong communication and people management skills with experience in creating and managing a culturally diverse team environment. The candidate will also be a team player with a strong antiracist perspective; be a strategic, flexible, positive, and curious thinker responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring a successful and comprehensive internship program strategy for the benefit of the interns; and provide support to Shakespeare & Company Performances, Education Program, and Center for Actor Training on a local, national, and international scale.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the point-of-contact for all seasonal artists and staff (Performance, Education and Training programs) regarding residence at S&Co including maintaining company housing at a comfortable and livable state through coordination of housekeeping and maintenance efforts, ensuring all necessary furnishings and housewares are provided, creating and updating company housing assignments in order to provide maximum satisfaction in living situation and accommodate any special needs.
  • Coordinating travel for arriving artists and staff including local transport / access to company vehicles as available and necessary, maintaining records of travel reimbursements and vehicle-use documents, assigning and tracking vehicle use, coordinating with Facilities on vehicle repair.
  • Coordinating housing rentals on and off-site.
  • Coordinating appointments, follow-ups and paperwork for any worker’s compensation related injuries.
  • Maintaining hospitality budgets, producing company and staff events including some food preparation and service.
  • Assisting the Chief Safety Officer with staff COVID safety compliance efforts including communication and enforcement of policies, assistance with pre-employment and weekly testing, and distributing signage and PPE as necessary.
  • Internship program organization including inter-departmental needs assessments, leadership in recruiting, coordinating training sessions, and assuring reviews.
  • Scheduling and supervising Arts Administration Interns for the summer season.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; a positive attitude and energy, and an inspiring, forward thinking, empathetic, and collaborative leadership style, exhibiting an openness to many perspectives.
  • Budget management experience preferred.
  • Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen and most recent vaccine dose one is eligible for.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft office proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • A commitment to values of anti-racism and anti-oppression and personal and/or professional experiences advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Interest and respect for the foundational principles and methods in Shakespeare & Company’s commitment to the actor/audience relationship.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-transaction performing or other arts environment.
  • Excitement for working with beginning and experienced theater professionals.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Food safety, allergen awareness, and/or COVID safety training preferred. 

 

COMPENSATION

This full-time Exempt position will receive $750 per week, and local housing can be available.
