Deborah Annex

Deborah Annex spent her career working in healthcare and creating new ways to deliver more personal care to patients within large medical centers. She helped create The Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Cancer Center, the first offsite interdisciplinary center at MSK. Later, Deborah worked with a large team of physician and administrative leaders to re-establish Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center as a National Cancer Center Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and built a large outpatient interdisciplinary center and many new research laboratories, all designed with the purpose of scientists and medical doctors being able to “bump” into a colleague during the day to share ideas.

Deborah has always worked with not-for-profit organizations, and has a passion for working with communities and children within underserved communities. When other people served on the PTA, Deborah went to south Yonkers and served as the Board Co-Chair of the Greyston Foundation. At Greyston, “We don’t hire people to bake brownies, we bake brownies to hire people!” The open hiring structure Greyson embraced allowed Gresyton to hire people other companies would not consider, including formerly incarcerated individuals and people with drug issues. Deborah also served her local community as a Member and Parent Advocate for The Committee For Special Education in Scarsdale where she helped families work through the process to get the necessary services for children struggling in the District with health, educational and emotional issues. She was asked by the Superintendent of Scarsdale Schools to serve on the Search Committee for a new Director of Special Education when a vacancy arose.

Recently, Deborah joined the Board of Voices for Children in Miami and has helped secure additional resources for the foster children in Miami-Dade County and will be helping to coordinate the program for the Gala to make sure every person in the room is touched by the work of the organization.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University and her graduate work at Yale University.
