Shakespeare & Company Garners 10 Berkshire Critics Award Nominations

Shakespeare & Company has earned 10 Berkshire Theatre Critics Association Award nominations for productions staged during the 2024 season, including two nods in the Outstanding Production of a Play category.

The Berkshire Theatre Critic Association Awards – also known as The Berkies – recognize plays produced in theaters across Berkshire County, the Pioneer Valley, Southern Vermont, Northern Connecticut, and Eastern New York State, including the Capital District and the Catskills. This year, Shakespeare & Company’s nominations include:

Outstanding Costume Design of a Play or Musical

Govane Lohbauer, The Comedy of Errors

 Outstanding Direction of a Play

 Regge Life, The Islanders

and

James Warwick, A Body of Water

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Play

 Allyn Burrows, Flight of the Monarch

and

“ranney”, The Islanders

Outstanding Ensemble Performance

The Comedy of Errors

Sally and Robert Sugarman Award for a Premiere of a Play

Flight of the Monarch, by Jim Frangione

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play

Bella Merlin, A Body of Water

Outstanding Production of a Play

Flight of the Monarch by Jim Frangione, directed by Judy Braha and produced in association with Great Barrington Public Theater

and

The Islanders by Carey Crim, directed by Regge Life

The 2024 Berkshire Theatre Critics Association Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 in the Zion Lutheran Church Community Room, on First Street in Pittsfield, Mass. Westfield Community Programming will livestream the awards ceremony, and Mark G. Auerbach will do a live pre-show at 6 p.m., from the awards. It will be broadcast on westfieldtv.org and WSKB Community Radio.
