Berkshire-based vendors will be on campus on select days, offering pre-show meals
LENOX, Mass. – Shakespeare & Company has added a new, pre-show amenity to its summer season: a series of local food trucks and vendors on hand to sell a variety of dishes on select days.
Food trucks will first visit the property on Saturday, May 25, from during Shakespeare & Company’s first-ever free Community Day. Additional vendors will be on site on select evenings through July and August, during the outdoor productions of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors and The Winter’s Tale.
Patrons will have the opportunity to order food from local purveyors BB’s Hot Spot of Pittsfield (barbeque and Caribbean); Charlie’s Bistro Bus of Lee (international fusion); Krispy Cones Ice Cream of Lanesborough; La Chalupa Y La Enchilada of Pittsfield (Mexican), and Upstreet Smoke (smoked meats and southern-style bites) of Pittsfield before shows.
Company Manager Natalie Love said she was interested in expanding the food truck program after seeing the success of just one food vendor last season.
“Based on our great success working with Upstreet Smoke last summer, we wanted to open our grounds to even more small businesses, in turn supporting our community, “she said. “We hope to see many new and familiar faces, enjoying great food before seeing a great show.”
Food trucks and vendors will be parked outside of the Tina Packer Playhouse between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., or until sold out. Tented seating areas and picnic tables are on the grounds for everyone to use.
Additionally, local food trucks will sell food throughout Community Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 25. Community Day is a free, family-friendly event featuring games, live music, and several other Berkshire-based nonprofits on hand to share the myriad ways each serves the region. CHP Berkshires will be present with a mobile health unit to offer their health services, and water will be provided for free.
