SALARY: $17.50 per hour up to 40 hours/week, with overtime available

Position Summary


Shakespeare & Company seeks a proactive, highly organized individual to fill the position of Workshop Manager for its Summer Shakespeare Intensive for college acting students and emerging professionals. The Workshop Manager is responsible for managing the logistics and daily operations of the program in collaboration with the Director of Training and Training Programs Manager of the Center for Actor Training, as well as the Associate Workshop Coordinator for the Summer Shakespeare Intensive. The position begins May 20 and ends June 28, 2024.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate the arrival, orientation, and departure of participants and faculty, in collaboration with the Company Manager and Training Programs Manager
  • Prepare the living, dining, and classroom spaces and faculty work room with the cooperation and assistance of the company and workshop staff
  • Prepare and distribute digital and print workshop materials in preparation for and as needed during the workshop
  • Ensure that rooms are set up as needed and all workshop supplies are in stock, sanitized, and in place for all classes through the duration of the workshop
  • Ensure that all schedule changes and updates have been communicated to all workshop faculty, staff, and participants in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist and support the faculty meetings, including scribing notes from verbal reports in the Daily Class log
  • In collaboration with the Associate Workshop Coordinator, oversee the Volunteer Workshop Assistants
  • In collaboration with the Associate Workshop Coordinator, ensure that the teacher trainees are assigned to the appropriate classes and complete tasks as assigned
  • Act as point of first contact for participant concerns including class attendance or participation, illness, and quality of life needs, and follow protocol to address issues as required
  • Report participant training concerns and any emergencies to the Director of Training and/or Training Programs Manager for appropriate and timely response
  • Serve as liaison between the workshop and Shakespeare & Company administration and production departments, if required
  • Coordinate wrap-up of the program, including restoring and basic clean-up of supplies and spaces, completing workshop paperwork and filing, and preparing final documents

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Characteristics

 

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with multitasking abilities. Stage management experience a plus, attention to detail and accuracy a must
  • Highly capable of anticipating needs and navigating shifting priorities while keeping a bird’s eye view
  • Ability to discern and prioritize the overall community experience when making important decisions and judgment calls in the moment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills
  • A positive attitude and energy, and a forward-thinking, empathetic, and collaborative management style, exhibiting an openness to many perspectives and experiences
  • A commitment to values of anti-racism and anti-oppression and personal and/or professional experiences advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • Experience in organizing, working with, and communicating effectively with groups of individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google applications, and Zoom
  • Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen, including the latest booster released in the fall of 2023
  • Valid Driver’s License
