SALARY: $769.23 to $961.54 per week ($40,000 to $50,000 annually), housing during relocation available
Position Summary
Shakespeare & Company seeks an experienced and imaginative individual to fill the position of Education Program Professional Development & Digital Resource Project Manager, responsible for the promotion, implementation, and management of Professional Development workshops, materials and certifications; and oversee the editing of existing media materials and creation new materials for deployment in various print, web, and social media outlets. Professional Development Workshops are designed to aid director, educators and teaching artists with how to bring Shakespeare’s works alive in the rehearsal room, classroom or after-school setting, teaching how to create engaging learning experiences and presentations of Shakespeare through exercises, imaginative experiences, creative games, techniques to understand Shakespeare’s texts, and more. This position works especially with members of the Education Program personnel and the Company’s Marketing Team.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Professional Development planning and scheduling including: booking, staff hiring and scheduling, assisting in sessions, processing enrollment, invoicing tuition payments;
- Creating promotional and marketing materials for Professional Development Workshops;
- Creating and scheduling new Professional Development workshops and other opportunities for Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers and Teaching Artists;
- Promoting / actively engaging in outreach to potential participants;
- Managing participant experience by coordinating surrounding supports, such as housing, tickets for Shakespeare & Company performances, and external cultural events during workshops;
- Creating/editing/compiling workshop materials for participants;
- Performing Workshop Manager duties;
- Creating and submitting the Theatre and English Professional Development Points (PDP) Provider Application for the State of MA;
- Initiating acceptance of S&Co’s PDP’s for teachers coming from other states;
- Presenting at state and national Teacher Conferences, Theatre Education Conferences, and Theatre conferences, etc.;
- Assisting with the hiring and management of Skilled Teaching Artists to cut and adapt Shakespeare’s plays for Elementary, Middle, High School—for use by both the Company and to be offered to the general public via our website;
- Streamlining Education Program teaching materials, scripts, handbooks for digital publication;
- Assisting with Education archive photo and material digitization;
- Managing the development and creation of “How To” videos for theatre exercises, games, cutting scripts, rhetoric, etc.;
- Managing film edits/additional filming of the updated Fall Festival of Shakespeare Documentary: Speak What We Feel (Classroom versions, and Full version);
- Scheduling the release of the Fall Festival Documentary for maximum effect;
- Assisting Marketing and Education Staff with social media management and content creation;
- Providing additional support across other Shakespeare & Company Education programming.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Characteristics Sought
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in creating and managing a challenging schedule of tasks amidst a culturally diverse team environment;
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Theater/Performing Arts;
- Prior experience with Professional Development, Teacher Training, Educational Theatre programs and/or prior experience as a teacher, educator or school administrator;
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative leadership skills, exhibiting an openness to many perspectives;
- Strong detail, organizational, and project management skills, written and conversational communication skills;
- Experience with Shakespeare & Company’s Education Programming preferred;
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, Zoom and Social Media;
- Valid Driver’s License;
- Completion of a COVID-19 vaccine regimen and booster, if eligible, prior to employment term;
- Successful completion of a Criminal Offense Record Information check (CORI).
