Please choose one Shakespeare monologue (Verse is encouraged but not required) around 2 mins in length that you connect with regardless of character age or gender; make a video of your monologue carefully following the Self Taping Instructions below*

Send a headshot and resume, in that order, in one combined PDF file, plus the video, to: auditions@shakespeare.org

*Audition Self Taping Instructions – Please Read Carefully

  1. Place the camera on a tripod or steady surface. A smart phone camera is fine but always shoot horizontally. Make sure you’re in a well-lit space with no distracting backgrounds
  2. Cameras should not be set to record in 4K or 1080p- your video clip will be too large; go into settings of your camera or smartphone to something lower like 720p or 480p
  3. Please do not put fade in or out or titles of any kind on your screen
Slate Format: first name, last name, height; character name, act and scene of the play; no other info is needed – for example:  Kirstin Daniel 5”10 Margaret from Henry VI part 3 Act 1 Scene 4
  4. Monologue should be framed like a headshot: head and shoulders
  5. And only if you can– please pull back for a wider shot- as wide as possible. If you are not able to get a wide shot that is fine
  6. Sound must be clear – please sound check prior to filming; smaller rooms with furniture, rugs, etc, will help to reduce echo
  7. Lighting should be good enough for us to see the color of the actors’ eyes; use soft lighting if possible- avoid stark white light
  8. Have a plain background such as a blank wall or curtain; we want to see you not your living room or outside your window
  9. Please label your clip: first name last name .mp4
  10. Use WeTransfer.com to get the clip to us. Do Not post on YouTube. Videos will be downloaded immediately, then uploaded to another location for casting purposes (so expiration dates on your end are not important)
  11. Include your first and last name in the subject line when sending your video and your headshot/resume (as one PDF, in that order) to auditions@shakespeare.org
