Ute DeFarlo, originally from Germany, moved to the Berkshires with her family in 2004, joining Shakespeare & Company’s Development team and ultimately serving as its Director of Development until 2015. After several years at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Mass., and The Mount in Lenox, Mass., she has returned to her Shakespeare & Company “home.” With a great passion for theater, including the Fall Festival and Riotous Youth programs at Shakespeare & Company – of which both of her sons are alumni – she is dedicated to playing her role in ensuring the Company’s continued success.

DeFarlo holds an MA in English and Russian language interpretation from the University of Mainz, and attended Georgetown University on a one-year Fulbright scholarship.
