Karen Kowgios is a certified public accountant specializing in theatre, entertainment, and the arts, along with not-for-profits and education services. With over 35 years’ experience, she specializes in providing accounting services to not-for profit organizations and has been involved in all financial aspects of charitable organizations and foundations. Karen lectures on accounting and tax issues relative to the not-for profit industry with the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, and Alliance for Resident Theatres/New York.
Karen earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Mercy College. She maintains memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of Public Accountants, and The Broadway League. Karen was named as one of Crain’s New York Business Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting in 2018, 2019, and 2021. She has served for over 10 years on the audit committee of a school board in Westchester County, is the current Audit Chair and a member of the Board of Trustees for Shakespeare & Company, and a Board Member for the Stockbridge Golf Club.
