Jadwiga Brown is a businesswoman and philanthropist, After serving as development director for a number of performing arts organizations, Jadwiga felt she could better serve the community through her own company and founded Corporate Image Management (CIM). CIM’s mission is to partner the “for profit sector” with the “not-for-profit world”, for the mutual benefit of both. While focusing on the performing arts, her client list grew to include educational institutions, hospitals, and a cross section of community based organizations such as Glen Cove, Long Island Senior Activity Generational Endowment (SAGE). Although now retired Jadwiga’s passion to make the arts accessible to all remains in high gear.
Jadwiga has sat and continues to sit on a myriad of boards including Long Island, NY’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, where she serves as a emerita member of the Council of Overseers. She has worked with the New York United Jewish Appeal/Federation. She was president of North Country Reform Temple – Ner Tamid in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, and sits on the board of her current synagogue, Hevreh of Southern Berkshire. She is an active alum Board Member of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and serves on the URJ Religious Action Center (RAC) advisory body, the Commission on Social Action (CSA). In Sarasota, Florida Jadwiga has stepped up as an active participant in the Sarasota Opera sharing her expertise as a development professional. She is actively involved in interfaith coalitions; is in a leadership role in the Social Justice and Israel Committees at Temple Emanu-El Sarasota. She also serves on the development committee of the Florida Holocaust Museum (FHM) in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Jadwiga’s history with the cultural arts goes back to her college days at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. There, she became part of the newly formed Neptune Theatre, as an acting apprentice before transitioning into an administrative role as a Public Relations Assistant. Her foray into the arts continued when she married the Bass Clarinetist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In Baltimore, she worked with Center Stage and then moved into the corporate world, honing her advertising/marketing skills. Her life’s journey took from Baltimore to Sea Cliff, Long Island, where she was. Development Director of Friends of the Arts, (FOTA).
Recently widowed Jadwiga was married for 40 years to Donald Brown, COO/Vice Chairman of Slant/Fin Corp. Together they made the Berkshires home, finding a special love for Shakespeare & Company which spans over 30 years. Their philanthropic endeavors have left a lasting impact wherever they called home. Together they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren, all weaned on appreciating and supporting the arts.
